GFDD and FUNGLODE Launched Virtual Educa Caribe During Inter-American Forum on New Technologies
The Inter-American Forum on New Technologies was inaugurated April 25, 2006, with an opening event in which President Fernández and the First Lady, Margarita Cedeño de Fernández were present, as well as the Ministers of Education and Higher Education of the Dominican Republic, Alejandrina Germán and Ligia Amada Melo, respectively. José María Antón, Secretary General of Virtual Educa addressed the audience and opened the Forum.

GFDD, FUNGLODE, SEE, and Microsoft Initiate Second Regional Training of Partners in Learning

GFDD and FUNGLODE Sign Agreement with Canadian Foundation for the Americas
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), and its sister organization in the Dominican Republic, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), signed a 5-year agreement on technical cooperation, diplomatic and international matters, and professional trainings and research projects, with the Canadian Foundation for the Americas, FOCAL.

UTEM Virtual Grants Free Access to Distance Education
As a result of the many partnerships and alliances developed during the International Week on Distance Education, organized by FUNGLODE/GFDD in Santo Domingo, February 13-17, 2006, one of the participating institutions, Metropolitan Technological University, UTEM Virtual for its Spanish initials, donated the Dominican Ministry of Basic Education with free access to the Drweb platform.
