GFDD Attends the 4th Regular Meeting of the Inter-American Committee on Sustainable Development
On October 21, 2014 the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) attended the 4th Regular Meeting of the Inter-American Committee on Sustainable Development, at the Headquarters of the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington DC.

“We Will Not Improve Education in Latin America Without Innovation and the Private Sector”
GFDD representatives attended the launch of the new book “Educación 3.0: The Struggle for Talent in Latin America” by Gabriel Sánchez Zinny, in a reception held at the Embassy of Ecuador in Washington, D.C. on October 21st, 2014, joining diplomats from several Latin American countries and representatives of multilateral organizations, think tanks and private sector companies working in education and/or development both in the United States and the region.

InteRDom Travels to Michigan for International Fairs
In an effort to bring opportunities in the Dominican Republic to a larger audience throughout the United States, InteRDom is excited to be participating for the first time in two back-to-back fairs at Michigan universities; the Global Opportunities Fair at Michigan State University on October 22nd, 2014, and the International Opportunities Fair at the University of Michigan on October 23rd, 2014.

GFDD Attends Key UN Events on Financing for Development
The first was a Briefing Session on the Report of the Intergovernmental Committee of Experts on Sustainable Development Financing and the second was the First Substantive Information Session of the Preparatory Process for the 3rd International Conference on Financing for Development.

Garbage or Resource? A Dominican Republic Experience Selected as Fnalist at the ENFOQUE International Film Festival 2014
The Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) production Garbage or Resource? A Dominican Republic Experiencehas been chosen as official selection at the ENFOQUE International Film Festival, to be celebrated in San Juan, Puerto Rico from 13 -15, November 2014.

Representatives from Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) attended the opening ceremony for the exhibition “Modern and Contemporary Art in the Dominican Republic” held on Thursday, October 16th 2014, at the Arts Museum of the Americas (AMA) of the Organization of American States (OAS).

Second Annual Transnational Law Program Commences at the University of Georgia School of Law
For the second time this year, the Global Dominican Academic Exchange Program is bringing Dominican law students and young professionals to participate in the Transnational Law Program at the University of Georgia (UGA) School of Law, from October 18-26, 2014, in Athens, Georgia.

GFDD Joined the Discussion on Rethinking Productive Policies for Regional Development
On October 9, 2014, GFDD representatives attended the event “Good-Bye Industrial Policy, Hello Productive Development Policy” hosted by the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) in Washington, D.C. In this event, the IADB launched their new book called “Rethinking Productive Development: Sound Policies and Institutions for Economic Transformation”, which aims to help countries to adopt the productive development policies necessary to prosper while avoiding the mistakes of
the past.

“Orgullo de mi Tierra: Descubre Puerto Plata” to be Presented in New York City in Collaboration with GFDD
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), in collaboration with the Puerto Plata Tourism Cluster (Clúster del Destino Turístico Puerto Plata), the Asociación de Puertoplateños en Nueva York, Centro Cuesta Nacional (CCN) and its renowned initiative Orgullo de mi Tierra, will present the documentary “Descubre Puerto Plata” (Discover Puerto Plata) on Saturday, November 1st,
2014 at Symphony Space 2537 Broadway at 95th Street, New York, NY 10025.

Barahoneros Living in New York Enjoyed the Documentary Descubre Barahona-Pedernales: Orgullo De Mí Tierra
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) celebrated last Monday, October 6, 2014 another successful Dominican Get Together in N.Y. with the screening of the documentary Descubre Barahona-Pedernales: Orgullo de mí Tierra, event hosted by the “Asociación de Barahoneros de N.Y.”, held at the Isabella Home Center.
