GFDD to Participate in VIII Caribbean Biodiversity Congress
GFDD and FUNGLODE will participate in the VIII Caribbean Biodiversity Congress (CBDC), which will take place from January 29 to February 2 at the Hotel Magna in Santo Domingo. The Autonomous University of Santo Domingo, along with other organizations, has organized this event every three years since 2002.

GFDD’s New Series of Eco-Courses Aid Sustainable Agricultural Development in the Dominican Republic
On Tuesday January 28th, GFDD’s EcoHuertos program will be launching its new series of workshops with a training session on basic cultivation practices. This will be held at the Fray Ramon Pane School in Santo Domingo. A total of three new courses have been added to the program that will help build capacity and train students, teachers and parents on topics such as basic garden maintenance, organic composting and pollinators and pests.

GFDD and FUNGLODE’s Policy Statement to be Presented during United Nations’ 52nd Session of the Commission for Social Development
Between February 11-21,2014 Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) have been approved to make an oral statement before the 52nd Session of the Commission for Social Development (CSD), which is taking place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, the same week.

GFDD’s Dominican-made Short Film Spotlightling The Importance of Responsible Consumption Screened during International Recycling Festival in Europe
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development’s 2013 original 17 minute short film “Garbage or Resource? A Dominican Republic Experience ” (¿Basura o Recurso/Materia Prima? Experiencia de la República), which recently premiered during the III DREFF in Dominican Republic in September, and at FICMA in Spain in November, was also screened on December 14, 2013 as part of the three week long International Festival
of Recycling Art of Catelonia.

2014 University of Rhode Island Winter Programs Come to a Successful Close
The two simultaneous University of Rhode Island January Programs hosted by InteRDom came to a close on Thursday, January 16 after an engaging two-week agenda of seminars, lectures, field trips and service projects for the largest group InteRDom has hosted to date– 24 political science and nursing students and 5 professors.

STEM Education Experts Gather at FUNGLODE to Discuss Innovative Teaching Method

InteRDom to Host University of Rhode Island 2014 Winter Short Programs in January
The InteRDom program is excited to continue strengthening its partnership with the University of Rhode Island this January, by hosting for the fourth consecutive year, two groups of students who will perform service learning activities and explore cultural, political and social elements of Dominican society.
