  • Official Start of InteRDom’s Spanish as a Second Language Program

    InteRDom’s Spanish as a Second Language Course officially began June 11, 2008. The class forms part of the InteRDom 2008 Academic Summer Program. The course will offer participants the tools necessary to develop competency in the Spanish language. Students will work on their vocabulary and participate in debates which will allow them to apply acquired knowledge of grammatical structures.

  • DRGFF Participates in 2008 Tribeca Film Festival in NYC

    Representatives of the Dominican Republic Global Film Festival (DRGFF), an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), attended the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City, which was held April 23 – May 4, 2008, in order to continue building a solid network of film industry professionals and identify potential films for the upcoming 2008 edition of the festival.

  • Consulate of the Dominican Republic in Barcelona Will Premier Book New Perspectives: Dominican Republic

    The Consulate of the Dominican Republic will organize a photography exposition and book debut to showcase the publication, New Perspectives: Dominican Republic, by GFDD Executive Director and FUNGLODE Vice President, Natasha Despotovic, and French Photographer, Anne Casale. The photo exposition will feature some of the images presented in the book, which includes more than 400 aerial photographs of Dominican landscapes.

  • GMAI Awards Scholarships to Students to Study Film and Television Production at NYU

    After an extensive evaluation process, GFDD and FUNGLODE’s Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI), New York University’s Opportunity Programs and One Race Films selected six Dominican students to study film and television production at New York University. Over 80 applicants were considered. Students were chosen based on their academic performance and professional interests.

  • Documentary Film Course Closing Ceremony

    On Friday, May 2, 2008, 34 students graduated from the Global Media Arts Institute’s Documentary Film Course. During the ceremony to recognize the students’ successful completion of the course, certificates were distributed by GMAI technical director, Omar de la Cruz.

  • GFDD and FUNGLODE Will Increase Publications Available Via Dominicanaonline.org’s Virtual Library

    This Friday, May 2, 2008, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) will present the literary works by Dominican authors that comprise Portal Dominicanaonline.org’s Virtual Library. The event will occur at 6:30 pm at the GFDD/FUNGLODE pavilion at the XI Santo Domingo International Book Fair, which is currently taking place at the Plaza de la Cultura.
