  • New York Applauds the US Premiere of Director Archie Lopez “Luis”

    The most recent production by Dominican film director Archie López, Luis, had its premiere in the United States on May 15 in the Walter Reade Theater at The Film Society of Lincoln Center in New York before a packed auditorium. The premiere included the presence of GFDD/Funglode president, Dr. Leonel Fernández, and Dr. Margarita Cedeño de Fernández, vice president of the Dominican Republic, as well as businessman Manuel Corripio, Dominican producer and director
    Archie López, producer Desiré Reyes and part of the premiered movie’s cast.

  • We All Have a Role to Play in Promoting the Competitiveness of Dominican Products in the U.S.

    GFDD hosted a networking lunch for the American Chamber of Commerce in the Dominican Republic (AMCHAMDR) members  and participants in the 2017 edition of Semana Dominicana (Dominican Week) in the United States, as well as representatives of the National Supermarket Association (NSA) on Friday May 12th. The event took place at GFDD’s New York Office and was moderated by Yamile Eusebio, Acting Executive Co-Director of the Foundation, who gave the
    welcoming remarks.

  • GFDD/FUNGLODE Co-Signs the NGO Major Group Position Paper for the 2017 High-Level Political Forum

    In its capacity as a member of the Non-Governmental Organization Major Group (NGO MG) of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, GFDD/Funglode has co-signed, together with 148 other NGOs, the official NGO MG Position Paper for the 2017 High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) which will take place from July 10 to 19, 2017. This paper expresses the common views of civil society regarding this year’s HLPF theme: “Eradicating poverty and promoting
    prosperity in a changing world.”

    The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) launched a new attack against the Dominican Republic using erroneous arguments, deploying fallacious concepts, and displaying a worrying bias that could continue to erode its already diminished credibility amongst OAS member states.

    Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode) partnered once againwith the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in the United States to present the very best of the Dominican Republic during the 2017 Around the World Embassy Tour, a signature annual event in Washington, DC that is part of the Passport DC initiative.
