  • Dominican Night to Come Again to Washington In March as Part of DCEFF

    As part of the long-term partnership between the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) and the Environmental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital (DCEFF), Dominican Night, featuring screenings of documentaries produced on the island, comes once again to the United States capital. On March 23, as part of the long-running Washingtonian festival, this year in its 25th edition, the city’s E Street Cinema will host a screening of the winner of the 2016 Globo Verde
    Dominicano, the short film Ciclos by Hansel Ureña Espósito, as well as Death by a Thousand Cuts, directed by Juan Mejia and Jake Kheel, and Site of Sites, by Natalia Cabral and Oriol Estrada.

  • GFDD/Funglode to Support the 2017 Edition of the New York Dominican Republic Model United Nations

    On Wednesday April 12, the New York Dominican Republic Model United Nations (NYDRMUN 2017) will accommodate 400 students in New York City as part of one of the largest model UN conferences open to youth in the western hemisphere. The event, which is co-organized by the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarollo, will run from Wednesday April 12 to Sunday April 16 and will be hosted at the Hotel Grand Hyatt, with a closing ceremony due
    to be held on the final day in the General Assembly Hall of the United Nations.

  • GFDD / Funglode Opens Its Doors to the Geography Week 2017

    As part of the preparatory events for the annual Geography Week, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and the Foundation Global democracy and development (Funglode), in collaboration the Plan Lean, organized a conference in Santo Domingo, in the Auditorium of Funglode, directed to technicians and directors of the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (MINERD, for its acronym in Spanish) and Natural and Social Sciences teachers.

  • Photographer Steve McCurry to Give a Masterclass in Santo Domingo on His First Visit to the Country

    The famous photographer Steve McCurry, known worldwide by, among others, his work “The Afghan Girl “, will visit the country in February, as part of the filming of a movie on his own life, directed by the French Denis Delestrac. Within a tight agenda in the Dominican Republic, McCurry will teach a master class in the headquarters of Funglode, organized by Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), February 9 at 7:00 pm.

  • The Curtain Goes Up at The Dominican Global Film Festival to Celebrate Its Tenth Anniversary

    The inauguration of the tenth edition of the Dominican Global Film Festival (FCGD, for its acronym in Spanish), in the National Theater, became a great celebration of the seventh art, in which outstanding national and international figures in the field received tribute before the screening of the opening film, Luis by Dominican director Archie López. During the event, the president of Funglode / GFDD and the executive director of GFDD and DREFF, Natasha Despotovic
    received awards.
