GFDD/Funglode to Host a UN Panel Discussion on Treating Parkinson’s Disease Psychosis with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its sister organization Fundación Global Democracia y Desarollo (Funglode) will be hosting a panel discussion on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy evidence-based treatment for symptoms related to Parkinson’s disease psychosis, as part of the official launch of the GFDD/Funglode publication entitled “Treating Parkinson’s Disease Psychosis with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy” by GFDD Fellow, Mr.
Henry A. Montero.

Green Growth Discussed by World Bank Lead Environmental Economist
On April 21, the GFDD Global Roundtables hosted Dr. Muthukumara Mani, Lead Environmental Economist at the World Bank and author of the publication Greening India’s Growth: Costs, Valuations and Trade-offs. The session discussed Dr. Mani’s career background as an environmental economist and the role that environmental resources play in economic growth, otherwise known as Green Growth. The discussion further elaborated on the best practices that could
be transposed from Dr. Mani’s analysis of the Indian economy to help promote the sustainable development of the Dominican Republic.

70 Students from Santiago and San Pedro de Macorís Participated in the II Environmental Excursion: Recycling for a Better Planet
A group of 70 students from Santiago and San Pedro de Macorís participated in the II Environmental Excursion: Recycling for a Better Planet, organized by GFDD/Funglode and Siempre Más and Fundsazurza foundations. The youths visited Fundsazurza facilities in the capital, Santo Domingo, where they learned about the ReCrearte program and enjoyed the short documentary Garbage or Resource? A Dominican Republic Experience, both initiatives of GFDD/Funglode.

Artist Xiomara Fortuna Joins GFDD and the Dominican Diaspora in NYC for an Evening of Music and Reflection on her Career
This year’s second Dominican Get-Together (DGT) took place in New York before a packed auditorium at the Dominican Commission of Culture in the United States, in the presence of Dominican artist Xiomara Fortuna. With over 38 years of experience as a singer, songwriter, composer and researcher of Dominican culture, Xiomara reflected on her career as an artist and gave a live concert, during which she performed some of her most famous songs.
