DREFF Joins 37 Festivals from around the World in the First International Forum of Environmental Film Festivals
Under the organization and sponsorship of CineEco environmental film festival that takes place annually in Seia, Portugal, the First International Forum of Environmental Film Festivals united 38 film festivals from all around the world, all the members of the Green Film Network. The director of the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), Natasha Despotovic, was among the participants.

DREFF will be Present at the 1st International Forum of Environmental Film Festivals in Seia, Portugal
Alongside 35 other festival directors from across the globe, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) Executive Director and Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) Director Natasha Despotovic will be present at the 1st International Forum of Environmental Film Festivals in Seia, Portugal next week, from October 13th to 15th. Despotovic will join the other festival directors in discussion and promotion of the environment through film. Areas for
collaboration and the sustainability of film festivals to promote social change will be debated in panel-style conversations.

DREFF: Special Guest at the First International Forum of Environmental Film Festivals in Seia, Portugal
CineEco, in collaboration with the Green Film Network (GFN), will organize the 1st International Forum of Environmental Film Festivals in Seia, Portugal, next October. The event, supported by the Portuguese Tourism Center, will take place during the 24th edition of the CineEco festival, October 13th to 15th. Natasha Despotovic, Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF)’s Director, has been invited to attend as a special guest, together with representatives of the most
relevant environmental festivals around the world.

“You Don’t Need to be a Biologist to be a Nature Conservationist; You Need to be Human and Have a Voice”
On Wednesday, September 5th, a special screening of the film “Blue Heart” (2018) was co-hosted by Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), the DC Environmental Film Festival (DCEFF), the Center for Responsible and Sustainable Travel (CREST) and Patagonia, at the Patagonia Georgetown store in Washington, DC.

New Habits to Control Plastic Consumption
Last Saturday, August 11th, the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) – an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), and the National Museum of Natural History “Prof. Eugenio de Jesús Marcano” (MNHN for its Spanish initials), joint efforts to screen the documentary “Bag It!”.

DREFF, Cinemateca Dominicana and the Centros Tecnológicos Comunitarios promote environmental awareness
This past Friday, August 10th, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), together with its Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) and the Cinemateca Dominicana, screened the children’s environmental short film “Peter Plastic” to youth from the Centros Tecnológicos Comunitarios (CTC).

DREFF Joins BIJRD at FICI 2018 with Screenings of “The Boy and the World”
As part of the collaboration with the XIII Festival Internacional de Cine Infantil (FICI – Children’s International Film Festival), held annually in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, GFDD and its DR Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) screened the animated film “The Boy and the World” twice. The first screening was held on Sunday, July 29 at 4:00 p.m at Sambil, and the second one was on Monday, July 30 at 4:00 p.m. at Agora Mall. Hundreds of children and
adults enjoyed the Oscar nominee film that was part of the 2016 DREFF’s official selection.

DREFF and Cinemateca Screened Environmental Short Films to Participants of BIJRD’s Summer Camp Participants
As part of a special visit to the Cinemateca Dominicana and thanks to the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), dozens of children and adults, participants of the summer camp at the Biblioteca Infantil y Juvenil de la República Dominicana (BIJRD), enjoyed the short films “Peter Plástico” and “The Change”.

GFDD/Funglode and DREFF Mourn the Death of Dominican Filmmaker Fernando Báez Mella
The Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) deeply lament the death of Dominican producer, director and photographer Fernando Báez Mella, who tragically passed away on July 3, 2018. In addition to having been a great friend and collaborator, Mr. Báez Mella was a member of the DREFF National Advisory Committee.
