  • DREFF Will Convene Press Conference on August 29 in Puerto Plata

    On Wednesday, August 29, the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), in collaboration with Clúster Turistico del Destino Puerto Plata (Tourism Cluster Destination Puerto Plata) will convene a press conference in Puerto Plata at the Gobernación Provincial at 5:00 pm to promote the upcoming Festival to be celebrated September 5-9 in the cities
    of Puerto Plata, Santo Domingo, San Francisco de Marcorís, Santiago de los Caballeros, Punta Cana, Baní and Sosua.

  • GFDD and FUNGLODE Will Showcase GFDD/FUNGLODE Awards Publications at 6th Annual Dominican Book Fair in New York

    Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) are pleased to be partnering once again with the Dominican Commissioner for Culture in New York to celebrate the 6th Annual Dominican Book Fair. The annual event celebrates the literary contributions of Dominican authors, both in the Dominican Republic and in the United States. This year, the Fair will take place September 28-30, 2012 at Boricua College in the Bronx.

  • US Journalist Steve Clemons Gives Engaging Talk on the US Strategy in the Caribbean on Security and Migration Issues

    The engaging exchange on different aspects shaping US strategy regarding issues of security and migration in the Caribbean ran for almost two hours. Historical factors such as Cold War geopolitics, the sudden fragmentation of the global economy and its implications on US-Latin American and Caribbean affairs, along with the extreme political polarization being experienced in the US have blurred existing blue prints regarding US strategy on Caribbean security and migration.

  • GFDD Attends New York Mayor Bloomberg’s Event in support of Dominican Cultural Heritage

    Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), represented by GFDD’s New York Director Yamile Eusebio, and Communications and Outreach Manager, Margaret Hayward were invited as guests to a reception hosted by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg to honor New York City”s Dominican community and its cultural heritage. The Mayor’s residence, Gracie Mansion provided a beautiful and historical centerpiece for the gathering and an excellent backdrop for GFDD to network with leaders of the
    Dominican community in NYC.

  • DREFF Will Attend BLUE Ocean Film Festival & Conservation in Monterey, CA

    Representatives of the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), will attend the BLUE Ocean Film Festival & Conservation Event with the purpose of providing support to our partner institution, liaising with potential new partners, keeping current on new trends and promoting GFDD and FUNGLODE projects, programs and publications.

  • DREFF 2012 Opening Night Ceremony Will Premiere My Father, The Captain: Jacques-Yves Cousteau

    DREFF 2012 is pleased to announce its pick for Opening Night Film, My Father, The Captain. The film is an intimate portrait of oceanography legend, Jacques Yves-Cousteau, told by his son Jean-Michel. The film, directed by Jean-Michel Cousteau, celebrates the life of the French explorer, conservationist, filmmaker, pioneer and visionary, in commemoration of what would be his 100th birthday.
