  • GFDD Hosts Discussion on Environmental Activism and Journalism In Its Washington, D.C. Offices

    In addition to the successful Dominican Night at the D.C. Environmental Film Festival, where Dominican filmmakers presented two documentaries on Dominican conservation efforts, on Tuesday, March 20, the GFDD and DREFF hosted a special side event on “Environmental Journalism and Activism:  Creating and Sharing the Frontline Stories.”  The event was held at the GFDD-DC offices, and moderated by Natasha Despotovic, the Foundation’s Executive Director and DREFF
    Director.

  • GFDD/Funglode Supported a Panel Discussion at the CSW62

    On Monday, March 12. 2018 at the Gallery Room in New York. The event titled “Economic Empowerment of Rural Women through Access to Innovative Financing and Effective Partnerships” brought together a variety of expert speakers who generate substantial discussions about the effectiveness of the financial services available to rural women and shared examples of successful strategies while proposing more effective measurements to improve the rural woman welfare.

  • Successful Presentation of Dominican Cultural Dictionary in Orlando, Florida

    The ceremony, held at the Christian Center “El Pan de Vida” was supported by the Dominican Cultural House in Kissimmee.  Participants included Dr. Jimmy Sierra, writer, filmmaker and author of the dictionary; Professor Héctor Martínez, who worked on the project and Dr. Leonel Fernández, former President of the Dominican Republic and current President of Funglode and the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), who wrote the book’s foreword.  Other
    collaborators who could not attend the ceremony were Reynaldo Disla, Carlos José Peña and León Félix Batista.

  • GFDD Continues to Support CoNGO as a Member of the Board

    The Confederation of NGOs ( CoNGO ), an organization in consultative relationship with the United Nations, held its General Assembly from March 1-3, 2018. The Assembly was held both at the International Convention Center in Geneva, as well as in the John Knox Center. Before the meeting, the 2014-2018 Board members held a work meeting to discuss the various points of interest included in the institution’s agenda. This meeting was held at the John Knox Center on Wednesday, February 28,
    2018, in the afternoon.
