In the November edition of the Global Roundtables, Semiramis de Miranda, Projects and ICT Director and Angie Martinez, diplomat and contributor to the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) welcomed the Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Costa Rica to the Organization of American States (OAS), Rita Hernández Bolaños to the GFDD offices in Washington for an interview.

Leonel Fernández Warns Against the Application of “Jus Soli” in the Dominican Republic
The former President of the Dominican Republic and President of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD/Funglode), Dr. Leonel Fernández, warned that if the Dominican Republic were to grant citizenship to all those born in its territory, the country would eventually lose its national identity.

GFDD/Funglode Brings Attention to Violence Against Women with a Screening of the Film “A Rebellious Act a Day”
In commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development and its sister organization in the Dominican Republic la Fundacion Global Democracia y Desarrollo (GFDD/Funglode) held a free screening of the film “Un acto de rebeldía al día” (A Rebellious Act a Day) at the GFDD office in Washington, DC on Thursday, November 15.

During the midterm elections held in the United States on November 6, President Donald Trump stated that he would end, through an Executive Order, the issuance of U.S. citizenship simply for having been born in the country.

On Tuesday, November 27 the most recent publication of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development and la Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (GFDD/Funglode) Fellows Program will be launched at Funglode headquarters in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic.

“Hay un país en el mundo” to be Screened in Lawrence, MA
On December 12, 2018 the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) will collaborate with the Lawrence Public Library and the city of Lawrence, Massachusetts Mayor’s office for a screening of the film, “Hay un país en el mundo” (There is a Country in the World).

President Fernández to Launch Newest Book at the Miami Book Fair
President of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD/Funglode) and former President of the Dominican Republic, Dr. Leonel Fernández, will hold a book launch for his most recent work, “Años de avance. Escritos de Teoría y Acción” (unofficial translation: “Years of Progress. Writings on Theory and Action”) at the Miami Book Fair.
