The feature Dominican documentary “Hay un país en el mundo” (There is a Country in the World) was presented in New York City in the Rafael Villalona Theatre of the Dominican Commission of Culture (CODOCUL)) last Friday, May 11, as part of the cultural program organized during the 26th Dominican Week in the United States. GFDD hosted a networking lunch for the American Chamber of Commerce in the Dominican Republic (AMCHAMDR) members and participants in the 2017 edition of Semana Dominicana (Dominican Week) in the United States, as well as representatives of the National Supermarket Association (NSA) on Friday May 12th. The event took place at GFDD’s New York Office and was moderated by Yamile Eusebio, Acting Executive Co-Director of the Foundation, who gave the
welcoming remarks.

GFDD hosted the event “Innovation and Supply Chain Optimization Based on Production and Market Potentials in the Dominican Republic and the USA”, as part of Dominican Week 2016 (SEMDOMUSA), with the participation of GFDD’s partners National Supermarket Association (NSA) and the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT). Within the framework of the annual initiative of AMCHAMDR, that has been supported by GFDD throughout the years, representatives from
AMCHAMDR, NSA, CONEP, and other institutions discussed the main challenge (and great opportunity) that the Dominican business community faces: increasing trade between the Dominican Republic and the United States through innovation and supply chain optimization based on production and market potentials.

Promoting sustainable development as well as encouraging exchange for collaboration and progress is an essential part of GFDD’s institutional mission. As part of this mission, the Foundation supports Dominican Week, organized each year by the American Chamber of Commerce in the Dominican Republic (AMCHAMDR). Now in its 23rd year, GFDD has jointly organized two events. The first, which was held on May 12th at GFDD offices in Washington DC, promoted the goal of establishing networks
and fostering partnerships among talented young representatives from international and governmental organizations, universities, private companies, and non-governmental organizations, as well as top Dominican business leaders.

Dozens of young Dominican professionals living in the United States, Dominican businesspeople, and representatives from governmental, private, and non-governmental sectors gathered yesterday at the event, organized by the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and the American Chamber of Commerce in the Dominican Republic (AMCHAMDR), as part of Dominican Week XXIII. The lively gathering, held at the GFDD office in Washington D.C., was the perfect atmosphere for
networking and promoting partnerships among these talented young representatives of international and governmental organizations, universities, private companies, non-governmental organizations, and the Dominican entrepreneurs who are part of the delegation currently visiting the United States for Dominican Week 2015.
