  • ReCrearte and Recicla 360 Join Forces to Promote Recycling Art with Three Workshops for Little Children

    GFDD’s recycling art program, ReCrearte, will participate in the fourth edition of Recicla 360, in Santo Domingo, with three children’s workshops. In commemoration of World Recycling Day and World Environment Day, Recicla 360, which will be held at the Galería 360 shopping center, includes the participation of specialized presenters and artists who bring a fresh and creative vision to the environment, sustainable development and best practices, so that the whole family can take care
    of the planet.

  • GFDD Meets with UNESCO Director and UN Ambassadors for Small Island Developing States

    GFDD conducted official visits to UN missions in May to meet with heads of delegations and discuss future opportunities for collaboration. Yamile Eusebio, GFDD’s Acting Co-Executive Director, and Marc Jourdan, GFDD’s UN Programs & Outreach Manager met with Ambassador Uludong of the Permanent Mission of Palau to the United Nations, Ambassador Odo Tevi of Vanuatu, Ambassador Webson of Antigua and Barbuda and Ambassador Sareer of the Maldives over the course of the last few
    weeks.

  • UNA-DR, GFDD/Funglode and GlobalMuners Announce the Launch of CILA 2017 and NYMUNLAC 2018

    The United Nations Association of Dominican Republic (UNA-DR), Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode) and the latter organization’s sister institution in the United States, the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) announced on Tuesday, May 30, alongside the Mexican association GlobalMuners, the celebration of the International Conference of the Americas (CILA, for its acronym in Spanish) from Sunday, October 29 until Thursday, November 2, 2017 and the
    New York-Model United Nations Conference for Latin America and the Caribbean (NYMUNLAC), which will take place from Sunday, April 1 until Thursday, April 5, 2018.

  • GFDD Global Roundtable: Interview with Mexico’s Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States, Ambassador Luis Alfonso de Alba Góngora

    In the last edition of the GFDD Global Roundtables, Angie Martinez, diplomat and contributor to that organization, interviews Ambassador Luis Alfonso de Alba Góngora, Mexico’s permanent representative to the Organization of American States (OAS), at the GFDD offices in Washington, DC. Among many other topics, the two speak about the Sustainable Development Goals and to what extent the OAS has promoted the development of the 2030 Agenda; about climate change and the transition toward
    a more green economy; about the next OAS General Assembly that will take place in Cancun, Mexico in June and regarding the Ministerial Meeting on May 31 which will address the crisis in Venezuela.

  • GFDD/Funglode President Presents Certificates to Global Dominican Academic Exchange (GDAE) Participants

    The group of Dominican students that participated in the last Global Dominican Academic Exchange (GDAE) at the University of Pennsylvania (UPENN) from April 9 to 16, 2017 received their participation certificates from Dr. Leonel Fernández yesterday. Also present at the event, which was held at Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode) headquarters in Santo Domingo, were Marco Herrera, executive director of Funglode; Yamile Eusebio, interim co-executive director of Global
    Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD); Rocío Billini, director of academic exchanges at UASD and Tomiris Silfa, assistant administrator for academic exchanges at UASD.

  • Register Now For the 2017 “Youth Speak Forum” and Make an Impact on Dominican Society

    The Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD)/Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode) will be one of the organizing institutions and the host of the 2017 Dominican Republic Youth Speak Forum taking place on June 10 in Santo Domingo. The Youth Speak Forum, which will be held at Funglode headquarters, is a conference and competition for young people to present social proposals or projects that have the potential to benefit Dominican society.
