DREFF Celebrates World Anthropology Day with the Science Academy of the Dominican Republic!
February 16 is the World Anthropology Day and DREFF celebrated it with the screening of The Anthropologist in Santo Domingo. The event was co-hosted by the Science Academy of the Dominican Republic. The screening took place within the framework of DREFF’s program Year-Round Environmental Film Screenings Program, which seeks to foster and inspire dialogue, raise awareness and promote sustainable practices by showing a diverse selection of quality movies on critical environmental and
sustainable development issues and organizing discussions and workshops.

Seeking to highlight the impact of climate change on children’s health, the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development in partnership with the United Nations Association of America (UNA-USA) Council of Organizations (COO) and the Institute for Life Sciences Collaboration hosted a panel discussion at the UN Church Center on Thursday November 17, 2016. The event was divided into three segments including a climate panel with remarks by Marc Jourdan of GFDD on the outcome
of the recent UN Climate Conference in Marrakesh and Jon Lourie of Duane Morris LLP who considered the degree to which climate change is tackled under US environmental law.

GFDD to Partner with UNA-USA Council of Organizations and other NGOs for UN Panel Discussion on Climate Change and its Impact on Children’s Health
The Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) in partnership with the United Nations Association of America Council of Organizations (UNA USA COO) and the Institute for Life Sciences Collaboration will host a panel discussion to celebrate the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (the 2030 Agenda), as ratified by the UN General Assembly. The Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its sister organization Fundación Global Democracia y Desarollo (Funglode) will host a panel discussion on the importance of sustainable tourism for the development of the Dominican Republic, as part of the official launch of the GFDD/Funglode publication entitled “Challenges for Sustainable Growth through Tourism in the Dominican Republic” by GFDD Fellow, Ms. Emma Fawcett.
