GFDD and FUNGLODE Host Event at United Nations to Address the Issue of Women Empowerment
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), in partnership with the United Nations Office of the President of the 66th Session of the General Assembly and the Dominican Mission to the United Nations will be convening a side event at the UN Commission on the Status of Women, entitled “Women Empowerment in Developing Country Democracies.”

Production of GFDD Short Film on the Silver Bank Marine Mammal Sanctuary is Underway
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) is pleased to announce that it is in the process of producing a Short Film on the Silver Bank Marine Mammal Sanctuary. The project strives to raise awareness of the importance of this marine protected area in the overall global protection of marine mammals, in particular, humpback whales.

GFDD Attends Annual Meeting of the American Historical Association, the Largest Gathering for Professional Historians in the United States
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) attended the 126th Annual Meeting of the American Historical Association that took place in Chicago, Illinois, January 5-8, 2012. The theme of the 2012 conference was “Communities and Networks,” featuring multiple sessions on digital humanities and the incorporation of technological tools for historical research and the teaching of history.

UNA-DR Inaugurates the Second Dominican Conference of the Inter-American System Model
On February 8, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), in partnership with its sister institution in the Dominican Republic, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), the Dominican Republic Association of the United Nations (UNA-DR) and the Organization of American States (OAS) and the Youth Outreach and Development Program of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) celebrated the inauguration of the Second Dominican Model of the Inter-American System
(MODOSI 2012) at the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic’s Jesús María Troncoso Auditorium.
