GFDD Attends UNA USA Annual Meeting in Washington DC, in its capacity as Executive Committee Member
On June 8, 2014, the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) joined other committee members of the United Nations Association of the United States of America (UNA USA) for their 2014 Annual Meeting. The theme of this year’s meeting was “Mobilizing for the World We Want”.

GFDD and FUNGLODE Partner with British Embassy for a successful conference focused on Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict
On June 10, the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), held a conference in partnership with the British Embassy, and with the support of the Ministry of Women in Dominican Republic and the United Nations Dominican Association, on the topic of Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict.

10th Annual CILA 2014 Was Launched
The Dominican Association of the United Nations (UNA-DR), Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), and its sister institution in the United States, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), officially launched the 10th annual International Conference of the Americas (Conferencia Internacional de Las Americas) (CILA 2014).

DREFF raises awareness and promotes environmental stewardship
In celebration of World Environment Day, and as part of its mission to raise awareness and deepen the understanding of environmental issues, the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), a GFDD/FUNGLODE initiative, successfully carried out a series of events between June 6th and 9th.

GFDD Short Film Wins the 2nd Place Fan Coral Award at the Reef Renaissance Film Festival Awarded
Garbage or Resource – A Dominican Republic Experience won the 2nd Place Fan Coral Award in the Documentary Short category at the Reef Renaissance Film Festival last Sunday, June 8th in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.

The 44th OAS General Assembly closed with the adoption of the Declaration of Asuncion “Development with social inclusion”
The Member countries of the Organization of American States (OAS) pledged to undertake "the necessary efforts to eradicate hunger and poverty, especially extreme poverty; combat inequity, inequality, discrimination and social exclusion; and increase equitable access to health services as well as to quality and inclusive education" in the Americas during the meetings that took place in Asuncion, Paraguay in the framework of the 44th General Assembly of the
Organization of American States.

InteRDom to Attend 2014 Global Internship Conference in Toronto
“Internships, Co-op, Experiential Education – Where Next?”—that is the theme to be discussed at the 2014 Global Internship Conference (GIC), to be held from June 10-13, 2014 in Toronto, Canada. InteRDom will join the more than 270 professionals, educators, and researchers at the conference hosted by the University of Toronto in partnership with the Academic Internships Council (AIC) and with academic support from Michigan State University.

Meeting with the Civil Society to the OAS opens discussion on various topics, during the 44th General Assembly in Paraguay
With a huge turn-out, around 500 Civil Society’s organizations from the region participated, on June 2, in a dialogue with the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, prior to the early works of the XLIV General Assembly of hemispheric entity in Asuncion, Paraguay, where institutions presented topics related to human rights, and particularly the problems of exclusion experienced by minorities, women, people of African descent, people with
different capabilities, among others.
