  • Dominican Teachers Trained in Quality Teaching

    A total of 278 Dominican teachers and professors will be awarded with a diploma for the satisfactory completion of an Organization of the American States (Educational Portal of the Americas) course on line sponsored by Global Foundation for Democracy and Development, GFDD, and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo, FUNGLODE in collaboration with the ministries of Basic and Higher Education, Science and Technology.

  • More than 200 Teachers Trained in Introductory Computer Usage

    “Partners in Learning”, a Microsoft program supported by FUNGLODE/GFDD has been conducting a series of trainings to more than 200 teachers of the Ministry of Education (SEE for its Spanish initials) in order to qualify them to effectively use technology in schools.

  • XXIII Model General Assembly of the OAS

  • Regulation and Legislation of Distance Education: The Brazilian Experience

    The Minister of Higher Education, Ms. Ligia Amado Melo, opened a three day seminar on “Regulation and Legislation of Distance Education: The Brazilian Experience,” led by two officials of the Brazilian Ministry of Education, Professor Luciane Carneiro, Coordinator for Education, and Dr. Helio Chaves Filho, Director for Policy on Distance Education.

  • Peer Coaching: Technological Tools to Improve Learning

    Thirty teachers from Costa Rica, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic participated in the training workshop opened October 31 that went on until November 4, at Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo, FUNGLODE.

  • Sir George A. O. Alleyne keynote speaker at the Ninth OAS Lecture Series of the Americas

    “Health is instrumental in its own right in contributing to wealth and other aspects of human development,” confirmed the Barbadian-born Dr. George A. O. Alleyne, head of PAHO from 1995 to 2003 and currently Chancellor of the University of the West Indies in his lecture on “Health for Development” at the Ninth Conference of the Lecture Series of the Americas October 11, 2005.
