GFDD and FUNGLODE Announce 2007 Award Winners
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) held a press conference on Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at 10:30 am in the FUNGLODE Art Gallery to announce the GFDD and FUNGLODE Award winners. The Awards acknowledge excellence in the following categories: Photography, Short Film, Documentary Film, Short Story, Poetry, Essay and Journalism.

GFDD and FUNGLODE Participate in Women in Film Entertainment Forum
In preparation for the 2007 Dominican Republic Global Film Festival, Natasha Despotovic, GFDD Executive Director and FUNGLODE Vice President, and Semiramis de Miranda, GFDD ICT Manager, attended the 2007 Women in Film Entertainment Forum in Los Angeles, CA, October 6-7, 2007.

GFDD and FUNGLODE Attend Webby Connect Conference
GFDD Executive Director and FUNGLODE Vice President, Natasha Despotovic, and GFDD ICT Manager, Semiramis de Miranda, participated in Webby Connect which took place in Laguna Beach, CA, October 3-5, 2007.

Workshop on Culture and Economic and Social Advancement in the Americas
The International Workshop, “Culture as an Engine of Economic Growth and Social Inclusion in the Americas,” was organized by the Organization of American States (OAS), in association with Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The program took place October 1-2, 2007, at OAS Headquarters in Washington, DC.

GFDD and FUNGLODE Participate in Forum on Education and Technology in Guatemala
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) participated in the program, “Education and Technology Forum: An Opportunity for Latin America,” that took place in Antigua, Guatemala, October 3-5, 2007. GFDD and FUNGLODE were represented at the conference by Technology and Education Coordinator, Paúl Goris.

GFDD and FUNGLODE Participate in CITICED 2007
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) are participating in the V International Congress on Information, Communication and Long Distance Education Technologies (CITICED), “Development and Capacity Building in Distance Education,” October 3-5, 2007 at the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD). GFDD and FUNGLODE are represented by Educational Activities Coordinator, Yamile Eusebio.

The FUNGLODE Art Gallery in Santo Domingo will be showcasing the photography of FUNGLODE Award participants until Sunday, October 7, 2007.

Conference to Promote the Creation of New Businesses in the Dominican Republic
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) and the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) organized the conference “Taking Your Small or Medium Sized Business to the Next Level.” The program took place at UNIBE and featured presenters Charlie Poticher of Millersville University (Pennsylvania) and International Development Specialist, Eric Miller.

In order to reach a broader audience and better suite the needs of its user community, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) are launching an InteRDom website in Spanish and English.
