    Martinez opened the discussion by asking Ambassador Valdivieso about Peru’s role in the OAS. The Ambassador stressed that “Peru is a country committed to democracy and to human rights.” “Both of these issues are fundamental to the job that I carry out at the OAS,” she said.     “More than a decade after signing this agreement, renewing it today means that our commitment to those values and principles that will make the entire region of Latin America and the Western Hemisphere a region where there can be peaceful coexistence and democratic relationship between our peoples is even greater,” added Fernández.
